Are you ready to be horrified this new year?

I got lucky this time to have a chance to watch the movie preview of "Countdown".
Thinking that it was just like other Thai horror movies, this one had caught me off guard. It was not the usual loud suspense music accompanied with screams, long hair and fingernails.

The story revolves around 3 Thai youngsters, Jack, Bee and Pam. Jack, the rich kid played by Pachara Chirathiva was supposed to be in New York studying, ended up partying for 3 years and have not gotten entry to the University, Bee, Jack's girlfriend had just arrived at the Big Apple who was played by Jarinporn Junkiet and Patarasaya Krueasuwansiri, played Pam who is a design student indulged with love and sex.

The party trio were looking to have fun during their countdown to 2013, and had called the drug dealer Jesus. Only to found out this Jesus was never the one that they had meant to call. The party had went violent, stranger drug dealer made the rich kids undergo pain, suffering and to confess to their lies, sins and own set of dark secrets.

Producer Jira Maligool and Director Nattawat Poonpiriya cleverly plots and build up intense emotions of fear and suspense before reaching the climax of the story. Many twists (conflicts) were incorporated – Unconventional Jesus as drug dealer, the little girl who is the victim of the car accident and also the ending of the story.

 My Thoughts on the Movie...
The film provokes my thoughts on the questionable morals of our society today, are we really doing what we preached, how have we contribute back to our society etc.
Could all these natural disasters today be the punishments to all who had sinned?
4, 3, 2, 1...Are we counting down to the doomsday of us, mankind?

Is a great film and a pleasure surprise to me. The story sucks me in and when the theatre lights lit up, what I thought to myself was “So fast, the movie over?” not knowing that 1 hour 30 minutes had passed. Give it a 4 out of 5 stars!

Craving to watch the film? I have prepared a short treat to the movie's trailer – TaDa!
The movie will be in cinemas on 21 Feb 2013. Make sure you are 18 before purchasing the tickets as the film is M18. Cheers!
