Day 14 - World around us

There are 2 news here - one saddening , the other uplifting!

We will go for the saddening one first. A shocking news in out neighbouring country, Malaysia- KL.
Chin Xin-Ci has escaped narrowly from an attempted kidnapped and rape after being pointed with a cleaver at the carpark of a shopping mall, The Curve. She had written the detail account of the frightening incident at her facebook page that had over 49,000 views. What have the world become and where is human's morality?

The other news would be the Top 10 happiest countries:
10. Sweden
9. Canada
8. Australia
7. Finland
6. Isarel
5. Austria
4. Switzerland
3. Netherlands
2. Norway
1. Denmark

"Of the 10 countries with the highest job satisfaction rates, nine are among the 15 with the lowest long-term unemployment rates - the percentage of the population that has been unemployed for more than a year, "the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)'s Better Life Index Report stated.
Major factors identified for measuring happiness quotient and overall life satisfaction in nations include economic prosperity involving regional economy growth, housing, income and employment.

Why are the Dans a happy bunch of people?

  • Although Dan paid the highest tax around 50%-70% of their income, government subsidies
  • all health care and education, and spends more on children and the elderly than any country in the world per capita.
  • Higher tax have closed up the income gap, and people do not choose careers based on income or status (nearly impossible in Singapore, in a practical and material obsessed nation) Singapore's theme song should be Jessie J's Price Tag- It's all about the money money money!!
  • "Jante-lov"- Dan's saying of you are no better than anybody else. Because everyone earns around the same income, everyone have equal status. People are also given the freedom to choose what they want to do
  • Trusting nation- people are strongly bonded and socially cohesive and displayed extraordinary level of trust, stalls that run on the honor system, mothers leave babies unattended outside cafés, and bicycles are left unlocked.

Lastly a picture of this beautiful and happiest place on Earth
